Trust & privacy
Platepace is a tracking tool, not a medical or dietetic service. Here is exactly what happens to the information you put into it.
What we store
- Your email (for sign-in and coach communication).
- Your display name, macro targets, and unit preferences.
- Every meal / food / weight / water entry you log.
- AI-photo draft metadata (never the photo pixels).
- Every AI call we make on your behalf, for cost + abuse controls.
- Audit log of account events (sign-ins, consent, deletion).
What we do not store
- Photos. Images go to the AI vision provider in-memory and are discarded after the response — we never write pixel data to disk.
- Passwords. Sign-in is magic-link only.
- Your contact list, location, or any off-platform activity.
How long we keep it
- Account data + logs: as long as your account is active. You can export everything via
/v1/me/exportor delete your account in settings (see below). - Audit log: 7 years, even after account deletion. This is required to meet evidentiary standards if you ever dispute something we did on your account (sign-in, consent, subscription change).
- AI usage rows: 12 months, rolling.

Export and delete
Export: signed-in users can hit GET /v1/me/export and get a full JSON bundle of every row the system holds about them. No wait, no approval queue.
Delete: POST /v1/me/delete with your email as confirmation irreversibly scrubs the account. We keep audit records with the email hashed for the 7-year window described above, but no personally identifiable content survives.
Positioning
Platepace records what happened. It does not tell you what to do. If you want advice, ask a qualified coach, dietitian, or clinician — not an app.
